~~flashback~~

“Callie?” Anton asked when he saw me standing out front of his door. “Yeah.” I said. “Come in.” He replied and I walked into the house.

Once I walked in and shut the door, he offered to get me a glass of water. “Yeah, thank-you.” I replied before removing my coat. “You can have a seat, if you’d like.” Anton said quickly before walking into the kitchen. I didn’t sit down, instead I walked to the back patio for I was in need of fresh air. I stood on the patio in awe of the lights that lit up downtown in the distance. When he returned, I faced him, happily accepting the glass of water. We stood next to each other in a moment of god-awful silence. “I came to talk to you.” I said in an attempt to fill the awkwardness. “Yeah, I figured.” He said sitting on one of the metal chairs that we’re on the patio. “It’s about us…” I replied trailing off and letting the words linger. He looked at me patiently. “Now, I’m not going to break up with you-” I started. “I just think we need some more time to get to know each other. I think we should possibly go on a series of dates and maybe I’ll be able to forgive you and we can move forward.” I said waiting on a response. “Okay, I’ll do it.” He said walking towards me. “Callie, I’ll do anything to have a chance to be with you again. I love you. I don’t ever want to lose you.” He continued. “Then, show me that. Treat me that way.” I said turning away so he couldn’t see the tears threatening to fall. “I promise I will.” He said walking around me to face me slowly giving me a hug.

In that moment, I never wanted to leave. I felt comfortable, safe, everything I had before I found him with that girl. “I think I’m going to go home.” I said to him. “I hope to hear from you soon.” I said walking back into the house to retrieve my coat.

I woke up the next morning feeling content. I was happy with what happened between Anton and I. I looked at my phone, not all that surprised when I saw a text message from Anton asking when our first date would be.

After I replied, I had to head to the Library before class to grab a book. I let Sophia, Gabrielle, and Taylor know before I left the house to see if they needed a ride into campus. They all said they didn’t and that they’d take the public transportation system.

As I walked into the Library, I accidentally ran into someone. I looked ahead of me and was surprised with who I saw. It was someone who I hoped I would never see again. It was Levi. But, that wasn’t even the worst part. Levi was holding hands with Jacklynn. She was the one girl who kept continuously getting on my bad side. “I’m sorry…” I said handing Levi his dropped papers. “Callie, wait.” He said before I could walk away. I waited for a second, “What’s up?” I asked crossing my arms. “I hope that we can be friends.” He said to me quickly. “Oh, yeah. I don’t see why not.” I replied, still not sure about what I was saying. “Are you dating anyone? Why don’t we go on a double date?” He asked gesturing to Jacklynn. “Y’all are dating? Funny, why am I not surprised. But, yeah. I am and I’m not interested in hanging out with my ex and my sister.” I said turning on my heel.

After class, I headed home to spend time with Sophia and Taylor. “So, I ran into Levi today.” “Who’s that?” Taylor asked. “A guy Callie used to date, she met him in Vegas on one of our summer sorority trips.” Sophia replied. “How is he?” Sophia continued. “Apparently, he’s dating Jacklynn.” I said softly. “No way!” Taylor said obviously surprised. Sophia got up and gave me hug. “I think I’m just going to go to Anton’s tonight.” I said once I heard a door open with a voice that sounded distinctively like Levi’s. “Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Taylor asked. “Yeah, I think so.” I said before grabbing some clothes and going to my car to leave.

I called Anton and let him know that I was coming over to stay the night. That night, he took the couch and I took his bed. About halfway through the night though, I got up to get him to bring him to the room. I loved him, and I knew I had to tell him. I woke him up and said, “I love you.” He smiled at me and replied, “I love you, too.” before hugging me. He joined me in the room and when I woke up the next morning, I never felt more safe, more comfortable, more loved than I did in that moment.

Hey Ivy Elites,

large

I’m ready to forgive you but forgetting is a harder fight
Little do you know
I need a little more time

I’ll wait, I’ll wait
I love you like you’ve never felt the pain, I’ll wait
I promise you don’t have to be afraid, I’ll wait
The love is here and here to stay so lay your head on me

When I returned inside the house from the interruption that happened outside between Anton and I during the Brunch, I realized that Taylor had disappeared. I grew frustrated because I had a feeling that someone had said something to her, and Taylor was very caring of others including herself.

I immediately headed upstairs because I figured she had to be there or out on the back patio. I knocked on her door noticing it was shut and locked. “Taylor, it’s Callie.” I said after I knocked. She opened the door and I told Sophia and Gabrielle to back off for a little bit.

“Everything okay?” I asked shutting the door behind me. I walked over to where she sat on her bed and joined her there. Taylor shook her head as if to say no. “What happened?” I asked trying to figure what was wrong. “I don’t want to talk about it.” She replied looking down at her comforter. “Did you still want to hit the mall?” I asked. “Yeah. I’d like to.” She said to me. “Alright, let me change clothes.” I said before walking out of her room to mine across the hall.

“We’re going to the mall still.” I said to Sophia. “Yay!” Gabrielle said joyfully. “I just need to change.” I replied searching through my closet. I settled on a pair of lightweight leathery pants, a black and silver detailed lace bralette, a white scoop neck t-shirt, and my thrifted Harley Davidson embroidered denim jacket. I pulled on my silver watch and finished the look with my LV Monagrammed purse and a pair of fringe detailed sandals.

The girls and I met on the steps upstairs before heading down. “Be back later.” I said to the rest of the sisters while fishing for my car keys that I kept in a bowl on the table in the lobby. I walked out and unlocked the car.

“Hold on, I need to clean the backseat out so that two of you can sit there.” I removed all the excess junk that laid in the backseat before climbing in the frontseat of my 2015 Toyota Prius. I adjusted the air conditioner and set up the aux cord with my phone. “Which mall are we going to?” I asked the girls remembering there was two in the area in similar directions. “How about we go to the downtown one? I would like to do some thrifting at Buffalo Exchange.” Gabrielle said to us. “Alright.” I replied before backing out and heading in the direction of downtown.

Downtown Shopping Mall

4:30 pm

“Victoria Secret!” Taylor shouted when we had passed the store finally.  I nodded in approval to my Little before heading into the store. We had only been in the mall for an hour and 15 minutes, and we all had done some damage. We had hit the majority of the sites: Zara, Victoria Secret, Acne, LF, Urban Outfitters, Abercombie, Forever 21, Sephora, Pac Sun, American Apparel, and a few local boutiques. After Victoria Secret, we had Buffalo Exchange left. “Where are we having dinner?” I asked the girls while eyeing a bra. “Please not Jenkins’s.” I said before anyone could suggest that. “Chica’s Tacos.” Sophia suggested looking at her phone. “How does everyone feel?” I asked before picking up the bra deciding I was going to buy it. “I’m in.” Both of our Littles said from the swimsuit section. I walked over to them and looked alongside them.

We walked into Buffalo Exchange and I was in my happy place. I headed immediately to the shorts section in search of some cute high waisted shorts. After spending a good amount in there, I walked out with more damage there than anywhere else.

Chica’s Tacos

7:15 pm

“I’ll take an order of your Fiesta Lime Ranch Tacos with a water.” I said the waitress. The girls all got tacos with some variations. “So, Taylor, why did you disappear from the table after I left?” I asked taking a sip of my slushie I had ordered earlier. “Jacklynn said some stuff about you that I didn’t like.” She replied looking at the table. “What kind of stuff?” I heard Sophia asked while she was growing upset. “Pretty much that you would forgive Anton before you would ever forgive her and that she went out of her way to bring in a VIP Legacy and still you didn’t forgive her. And, I felt like she should bring it to you before telling everyone what happened.” Taylor replied honestly. I shook my head in disbelief. I couldn’t believe that Jacklynn would be that deceitful to say something and not confront me about it.

“What did Anton want?” Sophia asked turning the course of the conversation. “Pretty much for me to forgive him and that it wasn’t what  it looked like.” I said not thrilled to be discussing it. “What did you tell him?” Taylor asked me directly. “That I didn’t know.” I said looking down at the time on my watch. “What don’t you know about it?” Gabrielle asked politely. “Just how I feel about the whole ordeal.” I said honestly. “Maybe give him another chance by going on a couple of dates?” Taylor suggested. “I second that.” Sophia replied. It was settled that that was what I was going to do.

~*~

After dropping the girls off at the Sorority house, I went to the grocery store to pick up some ice cream. Then, I drove to Anton’s home. I walked up the steps to the porch that led to his house and knocked on the door. “Callie?” Anton asked when he saw me standing out front of his door. “Yeah.” I said. “Come in.” He replied and I walked into the house.

After my morning run on Greek Row, where other sorority and fraternity houses sat, I knew I would need to get ready. As soon as I walked in the house, I was bombarded by the thick scent of pancakes that were being expertly cooked by Sophia and her Little. It was the day of the Annual Big-Little Brunch. Much to my delight, I was able to talk to a few Alumni and pull some strings to allow my Little to move in before some of the other Littles’ could do so.
I hurriedly got dressed in a dress that I had just got for this event specifically. It was a blue, purple, and white floral dress that had lovely cutout detailing around the waist. I paired it with a pair of single strapped black heels and kept my makeup relatively simple. For the occasion, I finished my hair with straightening it for much desired simplicity. I accessorized just with some gold bangles.
superthumb (4)
When I started to hear the sounds of numerous girls downstairs, I knew it was my time to walk down the staircase. I immediately spotted Taylor downstairs in a Lily Pulitzer dress. I quickly ran behind her when she wasn’t looking and surprised her. I  slipped my hands over her eyes so that it would appear dark to her. “Guess who?” I said cheerfully trying to suppress the laughter that was trying to come from my mouth. “Hm, let me guess. Maybe Callie?” Taylor replied, laughing and removed my hands from her face. I hugged my Little lovingly, and we began to discuss what the brunch would involve before taking our designated seats.
After everyone had sat down, I stood up and welcomed everyone. Following that, I provided a few announcements as it was President’s duty. In between bites of my pancake and fruit,  Taylor asked a question about the spur-of-the-moment shopping trip they had planned for after brunch. “So which stores do you want to go to first? There’s no way we can miss that sale at Victoria’s Secret, so that has to be on the list somewhere.” I heard Taylor say. “Well, I-.” I said in response before Sophia interrupted me. “Uh, Callie, someone’s at the door for you.” Sophia said from the front of the room. “May I ask, who?” I said before getting up from the table not wanting to be rude. Sophia was hesitant, but said the name anyways, “Anton.” That was not at all I expected nor was even sure if that was what I wanted to hear. I took a deep breath before rising from my seat and going outside where he was.
~*~
“Hello.” I said shutting the door causing Anton to look up from looking at his feet. “Why are you here?” I continued. “Well, uh.” He started and I could tell he was nervous. “I want to talk about what you saw.” He said running his fingers through his hair, making me melt at the idea of me feeling his soft hair. “What about it?” I said before crossing my arms. “It wasn’t what it looked like.” He started. “From what I saw, it was”, I replied recalling the scene. “There was a half dressed girl, what am I supposed to think?” I asked struggling to find his perspective. “Yes, there was. But she was there from the gig Jared had played at, before you came over. She wasn’t in Jared’s bed because he had someone else there. And, my shirt was off because I had just gotten out of the shower.” He said trying to explain the situation. “Yeah, right.” I said growing annoyed by his lame excuses. “Look, you can ask Jared if you want.” He said pleading. “And, how do I know he isn’t covering for you?” I responded. “Callie, what have I done to ever cause you to not trust or believe me? Wait, don’t answer that, nothing. This is absurd. I’m risking my job by pleading my case to you to mend our relationship when a teacher and a student aren’t even supposed to have one.” He replied walking toward me. “No one asked you to.” I said softly. “Callie, I care about you. I want to be with you. Give me another chance please.” Anton asked with us so close that we could almost kiss. “I don’t know.” I replied before walking further away from him. “I’ll let you know.” I said before walking back inside.
All the conversations died down when the girls heard the door reopen. I noticed Taylor was missing from the table and that’s when I went in search of her with Sophia and her Little following behind me.

Anton’s House

8:00 pm

*flashback*

After realizing what he had said and that it was too late, I wished I had never opened the door. Never came over. Never met him. I looked at him stung by what I was looking at. On the bed sat a half dressed girl. She had her pants on but her shirt was appearing to be off her shoulders and around her waist. The bralette she had on appeared stretched out as if his hands had been near it. His shirt was in a rumpled mess at the foot of the bed. “What the hell!” I said looking at him clearly upset. I felt tears begin to well up in my eyes and I kept trying to fight them back, but I wasn’t successful. I turned on my heel heading toward the steps. “Callie. Callie, wait.” Anton said chasing after me. “I can explain.” He said when I was standing at the foot of the staircase thankful that Jared and his friends had moved somewhere else in the house. “That’s just it, Anton. You shouldn’t have to explain.” I said looking at him. I felt betrayed and hurt, yet all I wanted to do was fall back into his arms because it was comfortable and safe. “I’ve got to go. Stop coming after me. I need space.” I said walking out the door slamming it shut.

Once I got into my car, I sat in it for a few minutes just crying. I punched the steering wheel a few times and drove to the nearest Target. I needed ice cream and some coffee for the morning. After leaving Target, I drove directly back to campus. Luckily when I got to the sorority house no one was out of their rooms. I grabbed a spoon, knocked on Sophia’s door and waited for her to come across. When she saw my face, she shut the door. I laid down on the bed and she joined me. “What happened?” She asked trying to break the silence. “I saw Anton.” My voice cracking. She looked at me and reached for my hand and I continued knowing if I did, it would be a 100 times more real. “With an other girl.” I finished. “Just sitting with another girl or?” She asked waiting for more details. “Like with with another girl.” I said not wanting to say more. I began to eat my ice cream just stuffing my face with gobs of chocolate and cookie dough.

Is it really to much to ask for someone to just want me. Feels like it’s in my wildest dreams. I thought to myself. I threw away the pint when I was done. I got ready for bed and Sophia made a makeshift bed on my floor and I cried myself to sleep. In the morning, I would have to paste on a smile because it was the most important day of the year. Bid day was upon us.

Bid Day 2016

8:00 am

I woke up the next morning with a major migraine from all the tears that had fallen the previous night. I gently woke up Sophia and  was slightly joking when I said, “Can we cancel or skip out on today?” “I don’t think so.” Sophia responded getting up to fold my blankets up. “UGHHH!” I said rolling over wrapping me tighter in my comforter. “Let’s go!” She said unwrapping me. I got up and walked to the bathroom and showered. I came back into my room seeing my bed made and the Bid Day outfit laid out for me. I got ready and headed downstairs. Every girl was doing their required tasks I had assigned earlier this week. I let the girls know I was going to Dunkin and got their orders. I brought it into the house after the short drive, we ate peacefully before jumping right back into our tasks. When everything was done, we all sat in a circle and just talked about life.

images (10)

About 4 hours later, girls with bids began to fill the halls of the sorority house. I said welcome and shook every girl’s hand by now, which meant it was time for my short speech. I clanked a fork against my glass to get everyone’s attention. “Welcome to Kay Dee! I’m Callie Elle, President of Kappa Delta here at Harvard U.” I said cheerfully with only about 1/3 of it being fake considering my personal crisis. “Here you will find your sisters for life. Get to know them, spend time with them, make memories.” I continued. “Welcome Home to a League that’s your own!” I finished and included enjoy the party.

“Excuse me.” I said pushing myself through the crowd. “Sorry.” A brunette said with a slight British accent. I looked at her and smiled, “Not a problem.” “I’m Taylor Highland.” The brunette said cheerfully. “You know who I am.” I said fluffing my hair. “Nice to meet you.” I continued. I held a good conversation about Harvard and KD with the girl satisfied with the choice of her being in Kappa. I knew she would be one of the first girls to move into the house. “Great talking to you, Taylor. Glad to see you apart of Kappa.”

The Questions I Was Asked:

*Note: I mixed some questions from Dylan Marvil & KristenGregoryTheWit with Olivia’s*

*How tall are you?

I’m approximately 4’11 to 5’0. I don’t really even know.

*Where would you’re dream vacation be?

I’ve been thinking about this for so long. It would probably be Greece because I would have a beach and a town with other amazing countries not to far away.

*Where are you from?

Originally, I was born in Nashville, Tennessee. But, my family now resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

*Hobbies? Other than writing of course…

I love to go out with friends and I’m really been getting into photography lately. Other than that, I’m passionate about Pittsburgh Steelers and just spending time with friends.

*What grade are you in/What year in college?

Now, this is a tough one to explain. I’m at a two year community college which typically consists of 4 semesters. I have gone through 3 semesters, but I did poorly my first one so, I spent my second one making up classes that I didn’t do well in. Anyways, I want to transfer out of this college to a 4 year university by Fall 2016 (August).

*What is your favorite tv series on Netflix?

I’ve been really digging rewatching a lot of older shows (Gossip Girl).

*What is your favorite song?

That’s a tough one. Rock: anything by the Pretty Reckless and classic rock, Country: anything Sam Hunt, Pop: anything Justin Bieber/Selena Gomez/Taylor Swift/Demi Lovato/Nick Jonas etc. I also love Fifth Harmony and Lana Del Rey. Oh, and James Bay (KGTW, James Bae)

*Describe your personality in real life.

I’m a very simple person. I would say that I have a tendency to laugh at just about everything, whether it’s funny or not, it’s a way for me to deal with awkward situations.

If you had to be either an alpha or a beta which would you choose?

Neither. I don’t like to be in control or second in command. I prefer to blend in and be like everyone else. Plus, I look at life like I am equal to everyone else around me.

When is your birthday?

July 2nd, 1996.

What is your favorite holiday and why?

Independence Day. It’s right after my birthday, and I love the summer. Plus, the fireworks. It’s just always a good time.

What is your star sign?

Cancer.

What’s your favorite genre of music?

Rock or Pop. I don’t really have one to be honest.

My Happy Ending

Hey Ivy Elites,

Kappa Kappa Chapter

5:00 pm

I got up off my bed when I heard a knock at my door. I open the door and see Sophia standing there with some cash in her hand. “What is it Sophia?” I asked confused on why she was holding cash. “I need some feminine products.” She said giving me her money. “Yeah, I’ll bring some back when I go out.” When I said that, she knew what I meant. I was going to see Anton again. After she thanked me, she went back to her room. I took that as my cue when there was silence in the house to leave. I grabbed a pair of black pointed booties and a peacoat that I left unbuttoned before shutting my door behind me. I walked out to my car with the scrapping sound of salt underneath my boots and the sidewalk. I started my car and decided that I would go to the nearest Starbucks before driving out of Cambridge. Before driving off, I used my visor mirror to touch up my dark lipstick.

“I want a Grande Café Mocha.” I said to the barista. I gave her the amount needed before waiting for my drink. I left Starbucks thankful to not run into any Kappa Deltas. I got back into my car and called Anton before driving to his house to see if he was home. “Hey Callie.” He said quietly. “Are you home? I was just on my way to see you.” I said quickly. “Yeah, and I made dinner. See you soon.” He said hanging up. I turned up my radio and started driving in the direction of Anton’s home.

Anton’s Home

5:30 pm

“I’m here.” I said opening the door that was unlocked. I removed my coat before walking further into his house. He was in the kitchen pulling out plates from a cupboard. “What’d you make?” I asked before kissing him briefly. “Just some lasagna.” He said before turning to cut two pieces. He passed me my plate and I sat across from him at the table. He already had to glasses filled with water at the table. “Thank you.” I said to him before digging in. We ate with occasional conversation mostly about school and sorority stuff. I helped him clean the dishes and wiped the table down. His roommate was home so, we just went upstairs to spend time together.

Lets talk this over,
It’s not like we’re dead,
Was it something I did,
Was it something you said?

When things started to happen, I stopped them this time. “I can’t do this.” I said pushing him away. “I need to go.” I ran downstairs before he could stop me grabbed my keys and my jacket. I got in my car and started it. I began to cry a little bit. Of course, he came after me. “I just need to go. That can’t happen again or right now.” I said to him before shutting my door and driving away. When I got back to the sorority house, I sat in my car for a little bit before texting Anton.

ANTON: Hey, sorry for running off like that. I just can’t sleep with you again or right now for that matter. We need to not let that happen. I got so much on my plate. I hope you understand.

That night I didn’t get a response back.

The Next Morning

9:30 am

“Sophia.” I said quietly knocking on her door trying not to wake the other girls. She opened the door and I walked in, shut the door, and sat on her bed. “I haven’t heard from him.” I said to her feeling insecure. “It’s okay. Give him 24 hours before you worry too much.” She said giving me a hug. “He’s crazy to not want to take it slow.” She said reassuring me that my decision was a good one. “Go get ready for the day.” She said pushing me out the door. “We have to get ready to meet some of the pledges.”

I walk back to my room and search through my closet before settling on something. I pulled on a striped top, leggings, and some socks. I finished the outfit with a denim vest. I styled my hair down in curls before going downstairs. Once I was downstairs, I made myself a small breakfast while waiting on the other girls to come down.

large (5).jpg

“Hi, Welcome to Kappa Delta, I’m Callie Andrews.” I said to another pledge for what seemed like the 1,000th time that afternoon. But, this pledge wasn’t just any pledge. She was a legacy. Her name was Katrina Farris. Her mother, Alexandria Stella Farris, was apart of Kappa Delta in my mother’s pledge class. She was a famous news anchor for ESPN’s competitor, United States Sports Network (USSN) and a famous actress. “Nice to meet you, Callie.” Katrina said waving snapping me out of my thoughts on possible topics to discuss. I went on to briefly explain Kappa Delta and the beauty of our sorority. Afterwards, she questioned me about it all. Her and I mingled for a while before they had to get back to the heart of campus for dinner. “I really hope you find KD as your home.” I said to her specifically before the other girl’s had left. “Certainly.” She said smiling.

Once the noise left the house, I turned to my housemates. “Who invited Katrina?” I asked the girls as a whole. “I did.” Jacklynn said raising her hand. I looked at her surprised and shocked. It finally made sense to why she had said what she said before. She knew I wouldn’t be mad at her anymore and that my good heart would come out. I was torn again. Torn with whether to forgive her about everything with Derek or to keep blocking her out.

Anton’s Home

8:00 pm

I drove to Anton’s house after the gathering with new pledges. I was still contemplating what went down with Jacklynn and desperately wanted to talk to someone other than my sisters. I got out of my car and flipped my hair to make sure it was parted on the right side before walking up to his door. I knocked and waited for someone to open the door.

All the things you hide from me,
All the shit that you do.

All this time you were pretending,
So much for my happy ending.

Someone opens the door and I look up from my phone. It was Anton’s roommate, Jared. “He’s upstairs, I believe.” Jared said letting me in. “Thanks.” I said pulling off my coat and placing it on the couch. “I shouldn’t be too long.” I said noticing that he had some guys over. “Nah, it’s okay.” Jared replied shutting the door and sitting on the arm of the couch. I walked up the stairs and walked down the hall that led to Anton’s room. I noticed the door was shut which was odd when Jared had people over and he rarely shuts his door. I heard soft music playing in the background which wasn’t normal considering Anton always played the music loud. I knocked lightly on the door and then turned the knob since Anton always told me I could. “Callie, wait.” Anton said, but it was too late.

Body Heat

Hey Ivy Elites,

Currently, I’m sitting in the living room of the sorority house, patiently waiting on the rest of the girls to come downstairs to finish discussing the party that we are planning for new members and Bid Day themes.

Dining Room

5:45 pm

I walked into the Dining Room bombarded by girls chatting and laughing. “Girls! Settle down, please.” I said politely sitting at the head of the table in the dining room. When the noise finally stopped, I started to administer the Chapter meeting about Bid Day. “We need to decide on a theme.” I said quickly with Sophia writing everything down.  The girls began to throw out ideas. We had about a few weeks before we needed to plan heavily for Bid Day. “What about a Summer Lovin’ and USA theme.” Sophia said to me. “I like it alot!.” I responded surveying all the girl’s faces to see if there was any facial disagreements. “We should keep thinking still.” I said to the other girls even though it might be the one Sophia suggested.

“I think we should have a get to know you gathering this semester.” Summer suggested twirling her hair. “What will it involve?” I asked before telling Sophia to jot some notes. “Maybe we just go out to Jenkins and a non-sorority or fraternity affiliated party.” Hayley said quickly. “I agree. Summer, reach out to all the potential new members. Hayley, call Jenkins’s and get a table. Sophia and I will be in charge of clothing.” I said assigning roles. All the girls got up when the meeting was completed. “Seemed productive.” Sophia said to me while helping me clean the Dining Room. “Most definitely.” I said smiling. “I’m going out.” I said once Sophia and I took out the trash. “Going to see your secret boyfriend.” Sophia replied seductively. Sophia was the only person who knew the truth about Anton. She didn’t seem to mind him being older or what I was doing wrong.

My red lips have found a new obsession

I ran upstairs to grab a warm coat and my keys. When I got to my car, I pulled out my phone setting it in the holder I had. I hooked up my Bluetooth and called Anton. “Callie.” He said when he picked up. He had a sense of quiet in the background and effortless cool factor with his voice. “Hey, I’m on my way.” I said leaving the Harvard campus behind me driving toward the outskirts of Cambridge. “Can’t wait to see you.” He said. “Me, too.” I said turning off the call turning and turning on some music while focusing on driving.

Oh my God it feels amazing when you hold me close

I walked up his driveway after parking my car in front of his house. This is one of the only ways him and I could hang out. It had to be not in public sight if we didn’t want to get caught participating in public display of affection. I knocked on his door prepared to be confronted by his roommate. Surprisingly, he opened the door and immediately pulled me into a hug. “It’s been too long.” He said softly into my ear. “Only a few days.” I said laughing. I took off my coat and laid it on his black leather couch. He grabbed my hand pulling me into the kitchen. “Too many days if you ask me.” He said smiling. He handed me a glass of water. I sat on one of his bar stools and drank some of the water feeling the cold water slide down. “Come here.” I said motioning for him to come closer. When he did, I kissed him pulling him close to me. He grabbed my hand pulling me to follow him upstairs to his room, before I knew it, it was happening.

All I need, all I need is your body heat

I looked at the time, I knew if I didn’t get home soon the girls would wonder where I was. I didn’t want to get up at all whatsoever. I just wanted to lay there and slightly forget what had happened between us. It was such an intimate act that I was okay with, but everyone else would not be. I shook him lightly trying to wake him up. “I got to go.” I said getting up pulling on my clothing. “Don’t leave.” He said. I pulled on my boots. He followed behind me. “I might come by tomorrow.” I said kissing him good night. I walked to my car and headed back to Harvard. Once I got home, I saw the girls were all spread out. Honestly, I could have stayed a little longer, but again a part of me was always scared to get caught.

I knocked onto Sophia’s door softly waiting for her to open it. She opened it, saw me, and followed me down the hall to my room. Once we got there. she shut my door and made herself comfortable on my bed. “What happened?” Sophia prompted almost immediately. “Stuff.” I said not giving too much detail. I continued with my night routine and she kept asking me questions. After I was done, I laid down on the bed. She got up and put her hand on my shoulder. “What really happened?” She questioned me again. “We had sex.” I said tears filling my eyes. She looked at me shocked. “I didn’t plan for it to happen.” I said looking down at my hands. “If people found out, everything either one of us worked for would disappear.” I said softly. “Is he worth it?” Sophia asked the most difficult question of all.

Truth be told, I didn’t know and still don’t. I just know I didn’t want to loose him and I was tired of heartbreak.

Hands To Myself

Hey Ivy Elites,

large

Currently, I’m sitting in my room trying to not put much thought in what happened at the Alumni Dinner. I’m about to head out onto the snowy campus to make a late night ice cream run at the local Ben & Jerry’s not to far away with Sophia and Summer.

Kappa Delta Sorority House

Kappa Kappa Chapter

1:00 pm

“Sophia, I need your help.” I said knocking on her door softly. “I’m coming.” She responded opening the door following me down the hall. “Which one?” I asked gesturing to an array of dressy clothing laying on my bed. Tonight was one of the biggest social events a sorority and fraternity President has to go through, it’s the Alumni Dinner. At the dinner, Alumni from everyone of the sororities and fraternities on  campus gather around on one night to see how the latest chapter is doing with social events, recruitment, bid day, and the chapter’s house. Typically this where the Alumni decides how much they want to give in monetary donations to the new chapter. And, if you make a good enough impression on other sororities, they might even donate to their non-alma mater.

“I’d say wear this.” Sophia answered. “I love the simplicity of the black with the brightness of the pants.” She continued. “Don’t sweat this dinner. You always make us proud.” She finished her speech. “Thanks Soph.” I said putting away all the other clothing pieces I had pulled out. “What is the chapter’s plans for the night?” I asked Sophia before sitting on my bed. “Probably a movie night in.” She responded. “Sounds good.” I said getting up to head downstairs to grab some water.

Jacklynn was downstairs when I went and we both are not on speaking terms still. Even though we weren’t talking, she still tried to have a conversation. “How’s finishing touches of Bid Day coming along?” She asked me because she wasn’t on that committee. I shrugged in an I don’t know manner. “Well, when you meet the girl I brought on, I think you’ll start talking to me.” She said quickly before returning upstairs. Of course, that left a bit of unrest in me. I needed to know who she was talking about immediately. I grabbed a bottle of water and roamed the house searching for Summer. I asked her who Jacklynn was talking about, and she said she had no idea. I figured that after sometime I would eventually find out so, I headed back upstairs to study some more before the dinner.

Gathering Hall

4:55 pm

But people say what they wanna say

At about 3, I began the process of getting ready. I curled my blonde locks into looser waves, my nails were painted a lilac color, and I pulled out a statement necklace. I made sure to arrive at the Gathering Hall on campus a good ten minutes before “show-time”. I knew I should be early so that I could spot out all the Kappa Delta’s before any other sorority could.

 large (1)

“Ellie.” Stella, a Kappa Delta Alumni called my nickname that was set by her. I turned around with a water glass in my hand and walked over. I gave my typical speech about what the sorority was up to. “You look utterly ravishing.” Stella said complimenting me on my outfit. “You too.” I said smiling.

I continued to talk to other Kappa’s before I was stopped in my tracks by someone who looked familiar. I walked back over to Stella and realized that someone I knew was standing by her and was talking to her. Stella motioned me over once again. “Caitlin Elle, meet Anton Matthew Smith.” The man, I had gotten to know at the Sigma Chi mixer was someone of importance. I just didn’t understand how, because Jaysen Hanson was president. Anton looked up and shook my hand delicately pretending as if we had just met. “He’s a professor here at Harvard attempting to get a PhD in Political Science.” Stella said providing me with more introduction. It slowly started to make sense. He had to be Sigma Chi alumni which is why I didn’t see him a prior tailgates or parties. To say I was stunned was a understatement. I walked out of the Gathering Hall in search of an empty bathroom so, I could have time to myself.

~*~

I want it all, no, nothing else

Once I was finished, Anton pulled me aside in an adjacent lecture hall. “What is it that you want?” I said growing annoyed. “Let me explain.” He said pleading. “That’s why you were so weird the other day at the Café. You were just alumni and didn’t want to tell me.” I said to him annoyance evident. “Look, at Sigma Chi’s mixer, I introduced me as a DJ because that’s my side job that I use the money I gain from those gigs as ways to pay for my PhD tuition and such. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with not saying I was an instructor until we kept running into each other at random places. Plus, I really like you and want to get to know you.” He said reaching for my hand. “This is so wrong.” I said to him softly. “Why does it feel so right?” He responded closing some of the gap between us. “Your my instructor.” I said to him softly. “It’s not like your in my class.” He said quietly.

Can’t keep my hands to myself

That night Anton and I went downtown for a few hours. At the end of the night he kissed me. That left me happy and utterly confused.

Downtown Cambridge Metropolitan Area

Jenkins’s Pub & Bar

3:15 pm

Liar liar, don’t cry on my shoulder

I walked into restaurant and directly toward the hostess stand. I let the hostess know that I’m going to go sit at the bar. I sat down and the bartender came to me asking what I would like to get. “I’ll get a small virgin Strawberry Daiquiri with an order of nachos with extra cheese and jalapeños.” I said not bothering to look at the menu. The bartender walked away. I sat there patiently waiting for my food. “I’ll take a beer and keep them coming until I need to stop.” I heard someone say next to me. I looked up from my phone and saw that it was Anton. “Bad day, huh?” I said looking up briefly. “Well, that’s humiliating. But, yes. It all started with your rejection.” He said laughing. “I’m kidding, just a stressful day.” He continued when I looked at him kind of confused on the rejection comment. “You?” He asked. “Eh, I don’t want to talk about it.” I responded. “Come on.” He said beginning the process of prying it out of me. “Enlighten me on the life of Callie Andrews.” He said smiling. “Fine. Pretty much at that party last night, my ex boyfriend, Derek and my best friend, Jacklynn hooked up.” I said looking at him waiting for his response. “Terrible, just terrible. Worse day then me.” He said shaking his head. I finished my plate of nachos and Daiquiri before getting up. “Here’s my number if you ever want to talk.” He said writing his number on a piece of a napkin. “Okay, thanks.” I said folding the napkin piece shoving it into my coat pocket. “See you around.” I said before walking out.

~*~

With words I’ve been betrayed
the respond and let them fade
and I just won’t let you bring me down

What was supposed to be a night of not talking about it turned into an entire evening of talking about it. “Hails.” I said standing in front of Hayley Ellis’s door to her room. She opened it looking disheveled. “You look worse than I should.” I said laughing. “Paper writing.” She said groaning. “Where’s Ashleigh?” I asked before sitting on a ottoman in her room. “I’ll get her.” Hayley said going next door banging on Ashleigh Harrowington’s door. Ashleigh came into the room with Hayley and they shut the door. “What’s going on?” Ashleigh asked completely oblivious to what was going on in the house. “What should I do about Jacklynn?” I asked Hayley. “Maybe ignore her. Show her that if you betray a sister you get not spoken, too.” Ashleigh volunteered. I knew I didn’t want to do anything drastic. Just something to teach her a lesson with. “Thank you girls.” I said getting up to hug them.

Starting that evening I began the whole not talking to Jacklynn. I barely maintained any eye contact with her at dinner. It was incredibly difficult to not talk to her, but I knew I couldn’t let her think it was just okay. After dinner, I went to the Sigma Chi Fraternity House in search of Levi. The boy who has been pretty much nonexistent in my life since school began. It was getting quite frustrating with me having to the majority of the work. “I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t make it to spring break.”, I recall telling Sophia last week.

~*~

So break away the touch
Of bliss you miss so much
But I won’t tell you to come back home
Emotions dissipate;
Is love designed to hate?
Keep on driving away from here

I walk up to his room and knock on the door. I tensed up, with the frustration of him not answering. “Levi?” I asked. He opened the door after hearing my voice. “Hey Caitlin.” He said letting me walk by. “You doing okay?” “I haven’t heard from you at all today. I called.” I said sitting on his bed. “I know. I was busy. I’m sorry.” He responded closing the door. “It’s okay. I just needed to talk to you about something.” I said smiling at him. “What is it?” He asked.

tumblr_meurea7BHR1rijbg1o1_r1_500

I told him the entire story about Derek and Jacklynn. When I finished he didn’t say anything at first. Then when he spoke up, he said the one thing I didn’t expect him to say, “Well, it happened. Now you need to get over it.” “That’s kind of harsh. How can you be so insensitive? Do you have any idea how betrayed I feel right now? My best friend betrayed me!” I said kind of upset with him and his reaction. “Well, that’s life.” He said looking at me in the eye. That’s when I knew what I had told Sophia previously would become true, we weren’t going to make it to spring break because lack of seeing him, but because of his insensitivity. “I don’t think this is going to work out.” I said quietly. “I was thinking the same thing earlier, Callie. Just a lot of effort that I sick of putting in.” He responded. Once I heard that, my heart began to break. “I guess I should leave.” I said getting up. “Goodbye Levi.” I finished before going to open the door. “Goodbye Callie.”

Oh, oh goodbye to no one

Massachusetts Area Café

12:15 pm

Earlier that morning, I picked up every photo I had of Levi up out of my room and put them in  box where I set it in the back of my closet. I couldn’t bear to look at them anymore. It sucked how it ended between him and I. I was so upset, hurt, and kinda of disappointed. I was sitting alone doing some homework when Anton walked in. “Hey.” He said looking down at me. “What are you doing?” He asked after sitting down and putting his leather jacket on the back of his chair. “Psych homework.” I responded closing my book and laptop. I got up going to get a refill on my glass of water I had sitting next to me. “What do you got going on this weekend?” He asked once I was sitting again. “More Sorority stuff. I got a Alumni Dinner to go to.” “Oh.” He responded getting fidgety and silent. “I’m going to go.” He said getting up. “You just got here.” I said confused. He fled from the café leaving me confused. I had no idea what was his problem was and I was determined to know.

I Want You To Know

Hey Ivy Elites,

kappa-delta-back-pack-195x300

Currently, I’m in the Kappa Delta Sorority House waiting on Levi to come by and spend time with me. Sophia is in the Living Room with Jacklynn waiting for me to come and join them until Levi gets here. My Mother and Cassie are long gone and on their way back to Boston.

Kappa Delta Sorority House

Kappa Kappa Chapter

8:30 am

“Move that over here!” I said to the movers loudly so that they could hear me over the booming music coming from the house next door. With Recruitment and Rush Week coming up at least 4-5 freshmen would be joining our chapter. With them joining our chapter, they are allowed to come and stay the nights limited. They can’t live in the house until Sophomore year. “Where do you want your bags?” Cassie shouted down the stairs to me. “Just leave them there.” I said back with my hair fluttering behind me in the light. “When the movers are done, I’ll be up to help unpack my stuff.” I shouted.

After the movers left, I did just as I told Cassie I would do. Once I got upstairs, I unpacked my bags. I put my suitcases away in the top of my closet out of sight. “I don’t want to leave.” I heard Cassie say to me across the room. “Why?” I ask. “I’m gonna miss you.” She said quietly. “You got a couple of more hours, okay?” I responded squeezing her hand.

“Sorry if I’m interrupting.” Sophia said running into the room. “What’s wrong?” I asked looking over my shoulder. “First, Levi is downstairs. Second, I need help deciding what I’m wearing for the Sigma Chi party later tonight.” She said quickly and impatiently. “I’m going to deal with Levi first.”

~*~

“Hey you.” I said as soon as I was in the lobby of the house. “What an amazing house.” He said looking around. “Alumni money spent well.” He continued. “Now, I know you didn’t just come here to comment on my home. What is it that you need? I’m gonna see you later.” I said giggling softly. “Want to maybe go on a date later?” I heard him ask. “Definitely.” I said smiling. “How does tomorrow evening sound?” He asked. “Perfect.” I said walking closer to him. “Okay, we can do a movie and popcorn dinner date at my house because my roommate is supposed be gone.” Levi responded. “Cool.” I said planting a kiss on him. “Now, I need to deal with Sophia.” I said turning around. “See you later, babe.” I finished before running up the steps for the 100th time that day.

“Okay, Soph you got my full undivided attention.” I said trying to regain my breath from the run up the steps. “Which one?” She asked unveiling two cute cocktail dresses. “I think they are both ravishing. But, a little bit to formal for where we are getting dinner and the party itself.” I said smiling. “Try a skirt and leather combo for dinner and a legging and heel combo for the party so that your comfortable.” I continued. “At least, that’s what Cassie and I are wearing for dinner.”

Jenkins’s Pub & Bar

7:15 pm

I climbed out of my black 2015 Toyota Prius. I wait for Cassie, Sophia, and Summer to get out before heading into the favorite Harvard University and other colleges including MIT hangout spot, Jenkins’s Pub & Bar. I walk up to the hostess letting her know that there would be a total of 12 people coming in after us and we are in the same group under the reservation of Andrews Kappa Delta. “Right this way.” She said walking toward the heart of the restaurant not too far from the bar making it easily accessible for those who opted to drink some.

That’s anybody else that’s met ya
It’s all the same all the same all the same glow

.

“I’m going to get a virgin Piña Colada.” I said softly across the table to Sophia for getting up. “Want anything?” I asked her continuing to get up. “Sure, the same thing.” I walk up to the bar telling the bartender what I would like. I sit delicately on one of the stools next to a guy who’s back of his head was by. He glances over his shoulder at me doing a semi-double take that isn’t completely noticeable. “What’s your name?” He asked reaching out to shake my hand. “Caitlin or Callie.” I said stumbling slightly over my words after realizing how beautiful his eyes were. “Yours?” I said releasing my grip. “Anton.” He said smiling. “Where do you go?” He asked politely. “Harvard.” I said looking at his eyes again.

He had eyes that were so beautiful. They weren’t like any I have seen before. They were a brown color that had blue flecks in them. His pale color skin was vibrant in comparison to his medium brown styled hair. He had on a black button up collared shirt with black skinny jeans. Slung over his chair effortlessly was a black clean leather jacket. He had light to no facial hair, but it kept him looking older than what his youthful appearance had let on. The bartender passed me my drinks. “There’s some party on the Harvard campus. Maybe I will see you there?” He asked before I walked away. “Probably.” I said grinning at the thought that it might be the Sigma Chi party.

Sigma Chi Fraternity House

8:45 pm

By the time the Kappa Delta’s and I arrived to the party on foot, it was in full swing. The house was blazing through the darkness with bright strobe lights playing to the beat of the music streaming through the windows. The house was decorated with scattered used solo cups and empty chip bags. There was a makeshift DJ table and a table filled with food. People scattered about throughout the house and even in the bedrooms. At a fraternity party, you always avoid the bedrooms because god knows who’s in them or doing who knows what. There was just one vital Sigma Chi fraternity boy missing. That person was Levi Summers. “Where’s Levi?” I shouted toward Jaysen Hanson, the Sigma Chi president while pouring a small amount of punch in my red solo cup. “He went out to grab food and a keg or two. Who knows how long he will be gone. I’m sure he’ll be back before Summer gets to drunk and you leaving.” Jaysen replied before walking away. Everyone knew about Summer’s lack of being classy while at a party. She was notorious for drinking too much causing me to typically leave early to hold her hair back while she would be puking at home.

Honey it’s raining tonight
But storms always have an eye have an eye

While I was waiting on Levi to get back, I walked around the party with Sophia a few times before running into Anton. “Hey stranger.” I heard someone say from in front of me since I was busy looking a Sophia and focusing on not dropping my cup. I looked up and smiled saying, “Hey!” “What’s up?” I continued. “On break from DJ’ing.” He responded motioning to the DJ set up Sigma Chi had created with a table, a few sheets, and boxes to help hold up his equipment. “Oh wow, that’s cool.” I said mentally hoping my voice came off carefree and not fangirling sounding. “I’m gonna go get some punch.” He said walking toward the table with punch and cups. I followed behind him. “What sorority are you in?” He asked once he got a cup for himself. “Kappa Delta. What frat for you?” I replied. “Sigma Chi.” I heard him say. “Awesome.” I said mentally thinking that I ought to get to know this fraternity better. He sat down on a chair in the Living Room which was a little less crowded. I joined him keeping the conversation going. “Your beautiful.” He said softly leaning toward me. “Much like your eyes.” I said giggling. My giggles were cut short when he gripped my arm delicately keeping me in place so he could plant a firm kiss on my lips. He then slid his hand up to sit and support my head behind my ear.

tumblr_mr9cni0fab1sdpikmo1_500.gif

I pushed away abruptly as soon as I realized what was happening. “I’m sorry. I-I can’t do this.” I said touching my lips feeling the warmth of his still remaining. “Your nice, don’t get me wrong. And, subconsciously I want to. But, I just cannot.” I finish. “I get it. I like you and it to.” He said before getting up. “I want you to know no hard feelings.” He said walking back to the DJ area.

“Let’s go.” I said to Summer and Sophia as soon as I found them. “I’m gonna stay here with Jacklynn.” Summer responded. Sophia and I left the party even without me seeing Levi. Even after, I showered and hung out with Sophia and a few Sophomores I couldn’t shake the kiss I shared with Anton.

1:00 pm The Next Day

“Good Morning.” I said to Jacklynn as soon as I went downstairs to make a lunch for myself. “Where is everyone?” I asked noticing the lack of noise in the house. “I’m not entirely sure.” She responded avoiding eye contact. “How was the party?” I asked. “Fine.” She said before walking back upstairs probably to help with Summer.

Tell me you’re covered tonight
Or tell me lies tell me lies lies

After I made and ate my sandwich alone and in silence, I went upstairs to find Sophia at the very least. “Hey Soph, it’s me. Open up.” I said knocking on the door. “One sec.” I heard some shuffling before the door opened. I walked in and saw Summer sitting on her bed with tears falling down her face, her mascara smudged, and her still in last nights clothes. “What’s wrong?” I asked noticing that something must be up. “Callie. You might want to sit down for this.” I sat down in the desk chair after moving it close to the bed. “It’s going to be incredibly hard for Summer to tell you this.” Jacklynn added. “What is it?” I asked growing alarmed. “I want you to know, I didn’t mean for this to happen.” Summer started. “But, I-I hooked up with Derek.” She said fumbling over the words at first then trying to finish her words quickly. My face immediately fell after hearing her udder words. “How did this happen?” I demanded. “We were together after you left. And, one thing led to another.” Summer replied looking incredibly regretful. “I’m so sorry, Callie.” Summer finished. After that I got up and went back to my room extremely disappointed. I was disappointed in me. In Summer. In Derek. How could someone who’s supposed to be my sister betray me like that?

After the news settled, I reached out to Levi. When I didn’t hear back, I got in my car and drove back to the Downtown Metro Area to Jenkins’s Pub & Bar hopeful to find Anton or someone I could talk to about anything, but what was on my mind.
